Dirty Laundry: The Gritty, Violent Punisher Film We’ve All Been Waiting For (With Thomas Jane and Ron Perlman)

Say what you want about the Punisher, but he really has not been done justice on film yet, and we are talking about THREE MOVIES. He is a broken man, hell bent on revenge at any cost. How is that so hard to get right? Yet, thrice, the ball has been dropped. Well, now we have a Punisher fan film that is about as close as we will ever come to a honest adaptation of the character. And the fan just happens to be Thomas Jane. Who already played the Punisher. Confused yet? So was I. But then I watched it, and it was so badass, I forgot I was confused.

Like I said, Thomas Jane already played the Punisher in the second of the three films, which just so happens to be the best of the three as well. But an overly hammy John Travolta brought the whole thing down quite a few notches, and it never really took off. Don’t even get me started on the other two versions of the movie: Though in all theories, Dolph Lundgren should have been amazing, he wasn’t. And the last Punisher movie that came out. War Zone, was MAYBE one of the worst movies ever made. Honestly.

From left to right the films go: bad, decent and atrocious, in that order.

Well, anyone who knows anything about Thomas Jane should know how big of a comic book fan he is, and really should not be too surprised he wanted to fill the boots of the Punisher again, even if it was only in a ten minute love letter. Anyone who has visited this little website of mine before knows about my love for fan films, so it should come as no surprise that this fan film starring Thomas Jane unofficially reprising his role as The Punisher would be just my flavor of tea.

And it is.

It is everything a Punisher movie should be. It is gritty and violent. At times, you want to look away, but to the same degree, as you watch it, you will find yourself longing for Frank Castle (Punisher’s real name, for you noobs) to do terrible things to these terrible people. Because that is what the Punisher does.

Your dime store crucifix aint gonna save you here, buddy.

That having been said, this video is totally NSFW. It is gory and bloody and deals with some very mature subject matter, so watch at your own risk. But know, it is pretty awesome, too.

Thomas Jane simply had this made as a fan. He is pushing no sequel or anything.

I guess the toughest thing to deal with in all of this is that Thomas Jane made this for the San Diego Comic Con, and has no intentions of following it up with anything else, Punisher related. Well, that is also awesome, too. He made this movie just to make it, as a sort of thank you to the true Punisher fans.

And like I said in the intro, this ten minute fan film is easily the best Punisher movie ever made. Which just goes to show you, when Hollywood does not stick its greasy fingers into something, it tends to come out pretty damn good.

Well played, Thomas Jane. Well played.

Gives new definition to the term “body armor”.
